World Book Online will give you some great brief background information on your author.
This is a great database to use to find extensive information about your author. Just type your author's name in the search bar to find resources.
GVRL is a great place to look for literary
criticisms about your author's works. This is the link to the Howard County Public Library databases.
Click on the resource category "Literature & Book Recommendations." Then click on the first link titled "Artemis Literary Sources" where you will find will find a ton of resources on your author and their works. *You will need your Howard County public library card number and your pin number to access this database. http://www.americanwriters.org/ This site divides American authors into their time period. It includes videos about the author from C-SPAN, as well as lists of their famous works. http://www.biography.com This site is pretty self-explanatory. Just click on the picture of the magnifying glass and then search for your author. http://www.notablebiographies.com/ On this site either type in your author's name in the search bar, or click on the alphabetical range of your author's last name. |
